Winfield Historical Times…And Other Oddities
‘Winfield Historical Times and other Oddities’ is a dark comedy/mystery about a young girl named Chloe, who lives a sedate suburban life in her small cul de sac of colorful neighbors. The peaceful, tree lined street, where the world looks to be in perfect order, belies the fact that behind the picturesque front doors, things are not what they appear to be. Chloe suffers from anxiety and because of it, becomes a pariah in her close knit, but well intentioned community. One morning, Chloe, who usually spends her days with her best friend Rob, finds herself with nothing to do. On a whim, Chloe, agrees to find Mr. Gladstein’s newspaper thief. It turns out the unlikely culprit is closer than expected. In the quest to find the thief, detective Chloe tracks her neighbors activities. By doing so, Chloe learns the peculiar secrets of her town and its inhabitants. As Chloe gets closer and closer to the truth of the disappearing newspaper, Chloe also learns more about herself. A neighborhood block party, that is meant to unite the community, brings the film to a surprising and comical conclusion.

Closet
Don’t leave “lonely” alone.
It can be the most troublesome emotion for human beings.
——Well, okay during the day.
・・・ But at night, Loneliness robs me of sleep,
Although he silently snuggled up to us.———–
A man who has lost his virility as a result of a traffic accident.
「JIN」、A man who can’t have sex with a woman, and therefore can’t have children.
In frustration, he quietly leaves his fiancee and flees to Tokyo.
He ends up in a “Soine” ( literally, “sleeping together.”)company.
It is here where clients, men and women from their teens all the way up to their seventies, come together.
It is a place where they come in search of peace.
All are insomniacs, troubled by their lonliness.
People who cannot sleep.
A 30-year-old virgin woman,
A 36-year-old woman secretly in love with her significantly younger co-worker,
A college girl entangled in the web of host clubs at the age of 19,
A homosexual man in his 50’s whose longtime lover has passed away,
An elderly woman in her 80’s, who wants someone to remain at her side during a “passing,”
Adults, who on the outside seem to be living a happy life, unable to send out a call for help for the heart.
And she, meeting a man who is also burdened by his own feelings of isolation and desperation; the only one who can save her.
This was made based on a true story.
Through meticulous interviews,
A unique film in which most of the scenes and all of the characters are filmed in bed!
Without his sexuality, will it be impossible for him to form a relationship, to love and to be loved, to cuddle, for the rest of his life?
Are the two people in the last scene living for tomorrow?
Or is it a ghost?

AMALGAMA (dir. Wills)
Alcira is a peasant woman, whose features bear her pain and sorrow. She lives alone in a peasant house. Henry, shy and demure, comes over to help with trying tasks. Their relationship is strained. Alcira becomes annoyed whenever Henry is near. Henry, for his part, is uncomfortable but tries to come nearer to her. Alcira gradually makes an effort to be kinder. She shares moments with Henry, where she excruciatingly mentions her dead son. Her talks distress Henry. For Alcira, these are moments of liberation: she releases shards of great affliction. Little by little, the tension relaxes. Henry feels increasingly comfortable. Alcira even considers Henry akin to her deceased son: the son slain by Henry in the armed conflict. Commitment and time to know him results in Alcira forgiving him.

ARCADIA (dir. Meiendresch)
The Latin phrase: “Et in Arcadia ego” (I am/was in Arcadia, too) refers to Sophie’s memory of her ex-boyfriend, who disappeared one morning without a trace. This motive runs consistently through this short film, written and realized within 90 hours, including its morbid color-grading. A second starting point of this thriller was the definition of suction as “behind a moving object sucking flow in air or water” which was used as a logline. The focus was on the thesis that memories of places settle, sometimes buried deep and reappear a long time later. An underworld visit with a doppelganger motif, the nostalgic island becomes the site of a woman’s decision between two men.

THEM (dir. Lochmann)
In a forgotten village, where everyone is cut from the same cloth, a new, self-proclaimed leader arrives changing the local way of life. Dividing lines are carved out as the once unified society is torn and segregated. THEM is a cautionary tale of misguided ideologies, destructive leadership and of being an outsider. But most importantly, it is a film about celebrating what we have in common rather than what separates us.

In a remote village, every weekend 6 year old ‘Titli’ waits for her friend ‘Bishnu’ who travels with his father from a city far away, to come to the village where they have a home. Titli is honest with her bitterness towards city but lingers to understand how Bishnu feels living there, in the big illusionary world.
But this time, Titli learns that this is Bishnu’s last visit, and he is moving to the city, just like the time her father did, for good. How migration of people from villages to the big cities can take away more than just the friends for little children.

Sandy Illusions
Synopsis
SANDY ILLUSIONS
A documentary by Robert Hughan and Arthur Scheijde.
To see and to be seen is what drives people these days. To see and to-not-be-seen is what drives survival below the surface. The sands of the seabed provide protection. Camouflage is the key to a world of illusions under water. What is actually over there? What do you really see? This engaging play of perception is the theme of this new short under water film. In Sandy Illusions the Spanish Costa Brava reveals the illusions of the desert of the sea.
Several exploratory dives with a camera at the Costa Brava coast have led to establishing the team that made this film: co-director/producer, cameraman, editor Robert Hughan, co-director/producer, writer, editor Arthur Scheijde, technical support Marcel van der Hulst, color grading Stanley Quarré, sound mix and special sound effects Olivier Nijs, music Tenacious Orchestra and Stoney Waters , with a voice-over by Robert Rosier.

All from Me
The Chinese choreographer Yang Liping thrilled audiences around the world in 1986 with her amazing “peacock dance” from ‘Spirit of the Peacock’. One of her famous works in her artistic creation career “Pingtan Image” was originated from the oriental folk believes and myths of Pingtan, located in East China’s Fujian province and the closest place on the Chinese mainland to Taiwan.
The production of “All From Me” music video was hoping to create a crossed-over genuine pop music sensation by bringing both the iconic performance of “Pingtan Image” and singer’s upcoming single together. Both of the directors unrelentingly pursuit to build a work that tells a brand new story which speaks to the audiences who have never been interested in dance theater and the artists that have never listened to pop music. Through the creation of the new script and new choreography, this music video is not only a film work adapted from a play, but an enthralling blend of pop music and the contemporary dance theater, hopes to motivates the artist in everyone.
China is an ancient country full of mysteries and a lot of elements of Chinese deities and magical beings can be found in this video.
There has been an old tradition in China of dancers wearing masks to resemble animals or mythical beasts since antiquity. The lion dance and the dragon dance are usually performed during the Chinese traditional, cultural and religious festivals. In this video the lions are the loyal companions which were bravely protecting the main character from the invasion from Hell. The appearance of a dragon is both fearsome and bold but it has a benevolent disposition, and it was an emblem to represent authority, which were sent from above to come to her rescue.
Art in China had grown in a phenomenal way, and has adapted and changed over time. The purpose of making this video is not only hope to reflect Chinese culture but also seeking for more possibilities to create a foundation for future artistic accomplishments. With the music video of a popular singer, the art of the tradition which were overlooked is bringing back to life with a new statement of Oriental aesthetics.

“The Last Dream”
Synopsis of the film: The Last Dream
This film follows the story of a boy who administers sleeping pills to himself. An overdose leads to a bizarrely intimate conversation with Death wherein we bring light on his reasons for ending his life and the bittersweet of what could have been if he had decided to live. This film will empower the audience to see the meaning of life and what a gift it truly is.
Project Brief:
Veer takes a bite of a pill and finds himself transported in a state of neither being dead nor completely being alive, to top it off Death takes him through time in a bizarre yet heartbreaking adventure.
The genesis of the project.
My friend Miraya inspired me to begin this project. Coming from a conservative background, especially being born a female, I was swatted away from opportunities that would have been easily handed to my male counterpart, thankfully by best friend urged me to take on a film project regardless of all the drawbacks I encountered.

As lovers of the Earth, experts of its rocks, and as members of the energy industry, they claim a place to talk about their industry and its future. The story is narrated by the son of an oil geologist, who moved as an oil expat son from Brazil to Norway, showing the contrast between new generations of environmental/climate concern and the practical and ethical challenges faced by industry professionals. Following the footsteps of Statoil, the Norwegian oil company operating in Brazil, the film tackles questions like why to continue exploring for oil and gas today and the ethical dilemmas involved. In a world where climate change concerns are a priority and where alternative renewable energies seem to be advancing, this journey explores how the energy transition should take place, asking some of the people who have been part of the damage if they are ready to embrace change.

Holy Drill
The music “Holy Drill” was commissioned by the dance company to be presented at an opening ceremony of a tunnel in Rotterdam. One month before the performance, it turned out that the investors did not like the idea of the dance performance because it contradicted their religious beliefs. The performance never took place. The situation around it determined the title of the composition.
The core material of the musical texture is the drill’s sound. After some time, I came up with an idea to connect the mechanical sound of a drill and a mill to make a sort of a futuristic film, where the image and musical texture are intertwined.
A mill is the main symbol of the Netherlands. The perpetual rotation of a mill symbolizes immortality. Rising and falling wings of a windmill, according to medieval interpretations, refers to the descent of God to a man and the rise of a man to God, it symbolizes fall and rebirth, cyclical change of times, and world epochs.
The film was shot with Samsung Galaxy S7 at Kinderdijk (UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997) village in the municipality of Molenlanden, in the province of South Holland, Netherlands.

Juicy Girl
‘Juicy Girl’ is based on events surrounding the murders of several of the many Korean women committed by US Army personnel since the Korean War of the 1950’s.
1992 South Korea. Soyoung, also known as Annie, is a Juicy Girl. A term used by American soldiers stationed in South Korea for local prostitutes. Soyoung is a trafficking victim, snatched by a gang when in her teens and forced into sex slavery. Sold to a pimp who operates his girls out of a nightclub, exclusively reserved for US Army personnel, Soyoung serves their ‘needs’. Her world is confined and tightly controlled, there is no escape. Soyoung’s only rare moments of joy come when she befriends a young street seller, Hoon a 10 year old boy.
Private Michael Johnstone, a US Army Medic, is a loner and shunned by the other G.I.’s. A narcissist and a misogynist, Johnstone is a psychotic landmine waiting to explode. At the nightclub Soyoung is in his sights, seemingly easy prey he can dominate and humiliate. Choosing his time carefully Johnstone, a master manipulator, romances and finally picks up Soyoung. Except Soyoung doesn’t play by his rules, nor is willing to do as she is told to by Johnstone. Johnstone erupts in a frenzy of brutal and grotesque violence. Leaving her dead and disfigured Johnstone feels no remorse.
Johnstone is arrested for Soyoung’s murder. Under interrogation he denies killing her though all the evidence confirms this. Johnstone is sentenced to life imprisonment. Some years later this sentence comes under review for possible parole. An experienced psychologist, Jane Owens, is brought in to assess Johnstone’s mental state. Owens gains a terrifying insight to Johnstone’s mind. To Johnstone, Annie was a nobody and got what she deserved. She was inferior, an irritating nuisance – just a Juicy Girl. Owens’ firm conclusion is that Johnstone must never be given an early release. He is a danger to society and likely to commit again. But justice can be bought. Soyoung had no protectors. Johnstone has one of the most powerful on earth, The US Army, who want to bring one of their boys back home. The Army coerces Soyoung’s family into accepting compensation for her death, blood money. They have no choice but to accept.
Private Michael Johnstone is released early. A free man.
This leads to outrage from the local populace, for the crime should not have allowed early parole.

Bloodless: The Path To Democracy
In the course of history, only a few revolutions have been successful, let alone those without Bloodshed. Nikol Pashinyan, a charismatic former journalist and political prisoner, galvanized support among the youth and women, by using non-violent civil disobedience protests and social media. In a short period of 6 weeks, a corrupt oligarchy was toppled and democracy restored. Deemed short of a miracle, BLOODLESS is a riveting political thriller, capturing the story as events unfold in the spring of 2018 in Armenia.

Kaminda
A visual poem of a 3-year-old boy’s journey of self-discovery.
Kaminda revisits David’s childhood adventures narrated by a young voice in spoken words written by Juan-Carlos Goilo.
From the dry northern plains to the atmospheric damp caves, Kaminda takes you through the rustic landscapes of Curaçao with stunningly captured scenes. Hear the primitive sounds of Curaçao’s “Muzik di Zumbi” accompanied by scenes shot under water, on land and in the air.
The unpredictability of nature and a 3-year-old boy presented some challenges when shooting certain scenes. But there where also these moments where all I had to do was press record and watch something amazing unfold in front of me.
This resulted in a film that resembled the purity of the story.
In 2017 I created my first film on an iPhone 6. Since then I’ve been experimenting with mobile film. When shooting on mobile the rules are completely different. This drives me to think outside the box and think of creative ways to capture that epic scene.

Road 721
Road 721 is an allegory about global warming. Set in a number of California forests it tells the tale of Sam, a photo journalist from Los Angeles whose dream has been to write an essay about the state of forestry in the Redwoods as well as other wooded areas in the Western United States.
What he encounters on his journey is mysterious, puzzling and ultimately terrifying.
Road 721 is an environmental ghost story. A cautionary tale about our careless attitude toward the natural world and what occurs as a result of it.

Wandering…But Not Lost
Under cover of darkness and with no word of his plans, much-beloved Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Master Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche walked away from his life on the international stage to live that of a wandering yogi. Unheard of among eminent teachers today, such a practice is rife with hardships. For Mingyur Rinpoche, these challenges—begging, finding food and shelter, illness, and all the attendant risks of wandering incognito from place to place with the barest of possessions—present fertile ground for deepening insight into the true nature of the mind.
Wandering . . . But Not Lost is an intimate account of Rinpoche’s four-and-a-half-year retreat (June 2011 – November 2015) interspersed with the master’s own guidance in applying Buddhist wisdom to our daily modern lives.
The story begins in Bodhgaya, India at the monastery of this renowned meditation master and teacher, best-selling author, and abbot of three monasteries worldwide. Recounting the night of his disappearance in detail, the film follows Rinpoche through his first days and weeks, including his near-death experience and the insight he gains as a result.
In vibrant and sweeping footage, WNL then traces his path—by foot, bus, train, and rickshaw—over the plains of northern India and into the mountains, hermitages, and caves of the Himalayas. Along the way, Rinpoche shares the wisdom he gained from these experiences in candid insights.
The story turns when Tashila, long-time attendant and friend of Rinpoche, spots him in Kathmandu at the Great Stupa of Boudhanath. Tashila, filled with inspiration, implores Rinpoche to allow him to join him. Rinpoche refuses at first, but when Tashila agrees to commit to a three-year wandering retreat, Rinpoche consents. The gain is ours: Tashila provides audiences a window into Rinpoche’s compassion and kindness for others. He recounts the yogi’s interactions with strangers in which he offers meditation techniques and Buddhist philosophy to anyone who asks or shows interest.
Layered over this story is exotic footage of ancient and holy places, such as Langtang, Nubri, Dolpo, and Lapchi where Tibet’s most famous yogi and poet Jetsun Milarepa (1052-1135) lived in solitary meditation. Kushinagar, where the Buddha passed away, Varanasi, Rishikesh, Ladakh, and Amritsar are also featured, along with one of the holiest Hindu shrines on the subcontinent: Vaishno Devi, reached by an arduous 14-kilometer hike up a mountain path full of joyous Hindu pilgrims.
“The entire path is a shift in perception,” says Mingyur Rinpoche. These and other words of wisdom culled from his extraordinary wandering retreat and devoted adherence to his meditative practice will touch—and inspire—audiences everywhere.
