WETBOY
The start of summer vacation envelops a group of friends navigating the lively streets of southern Limburg. In search of refreshment, 20-year-old Sef and his close friends decide to spend the day at a secluded spot along the local river. Packed into an old car, the group of five heads to a hidden location where the river flows peacefully. Surrounded by lush greenery and trees, they find their spot. As the boys change into their swimwear, Sef feels confused and uncertain. An unfamiliar tension settles within him, dominated by shame. Awkwardly, he changes into his swim clothes.
Once ready, his friends excitedly dive into the water and challenge Sef to swim to the other side. Sef slides into the water, driven by a newfound energy. He and his best friend, Lucas, take the lead, swimming as if their lives depend on it. Overcome with frustration, Lucas grabs Sef by the leg and pulls him underwater. Disturbed by this action, the boys engage in an underwater struggle. Slowly, the playful wrestling transforms into an intimate embrace. Both confused by these unexpected feelings, Sef and Lucas lock eyes. Underwater, Sef cautiously attempts to kiss Lucas’s lips.
After a few seconds, Lucas reacts with shock. Gasping for air, he surfaces and, in his confusion, punches his best friend Sef in the face. The group of friends watches from the shore, bewildered, unaware of what happened beneath the surface. Lucas hides behind a mask of laughter, while Sef is left alone and stunned, tasting the blood slowly dripping from his nose. He doesn’t understand what just happened. His feelings remain unanswered.
